For custom orders and sales pieces

Last update: 2022/10/22

Deposits

For custom orders deposits will be required. Deposits are 50% of the full quote with the final 50% due prior to shipment.

Payment plans over time are also accepted for tighter budgets.

Deposits are refundable up to the cost of labor & materials purchased or used at the time of cancellation.

Currency, Pricing, Payments

Displayed prices have changed to USD to more easily and constantly reflect market value. The Canadian dollar continues its downward track into recession, as such USD’s stability makes my life easier.

International orders are paid through PayPal as such those payments will be paid in USD. Canadian buyers can still pay in CAD as normal after we convert the price from USD.

Shipping

Once the final payment has been made Waterfield forge can hold items if requested, ie: needing to save more money for shipping costs.

Due to economic pressures Waterfield forge has suspended free shipping for small parcels. As of this time all shipping is expected to be paid by the customer.

Please note: It is the responsibility of the Customer to ensure any parcel being sent to their country of origin falls under legal status. Customers attempting to order a prohibited item by their law will not be refunded if item is destroyed or confiscated by their countries border customs.

Areas of special note: United Kingdom.

Waterfield forge has and will ship to the UK, however it is important for the importer to remember to adhere to the current blade laws effecting imports. As such it is difficult to ship to the UK unless the importer is a practicing martial artist with a valid import defense.

Custom orders

For custom orders personally contact Waterfield Forge (quinn.waterfield@gmail.com) for a quote and time estimate.

Customs are made from 80CrV2 or 4140 (hammers and tool axes) depending on the order and application. Heat treating is done using professional grade oils either Parks AAA or Parks 50. Blades will typically be 60 HRC, following factory recommended heat treatment, or the research of Dr Larrin Thomas.

Finish and furniture are up to the customers discretion, various handle materials will be in stock at any given time but exotic materials can be special ordered when requested.

Please note: for hunting or tool knives (<10 in blades w/o handle) leather sheaths will be provided. For large blades (> 10 in blades w/o handle) sheaths will be an additional fee if requested.

Sword scabbards are an additional fee.

Steels other than 80CrV2 or 4140 can ordered to be used if requested.

Non-Custom Sale Pieces

Product lines will appear in the for sale page, such as the headhunting axes.

Tool lines are designated by product codes ending in T

Custom ordered items that have been canceled prior to final payments may also appear here. Designated by product codes ending in C.

Occasionally there will be prototype’s for sale that may have been made from reclaimed materials. Reclaimed steels are more likely to carry defects within the steel and will have been tested to ensure they’re safe for use, however customer caution is advised during use.

Repairs of heirlooms

On request a customer can send a heirloom to be repaired or refinished to their specification for display or continued use. Heirloom items will fall under warranty while in the care of Waterfield forge. If the item is found to be unrepairable on inspection the customer will be notified and can discuss further action or return of the item.

Please note: Waterfield forge will not accept documented militaria antiques for restoration as this should be left to a restoration specialist to avoid devaluing the antique. If in Europe, Matt at Easton Antique Arms may be able to provide information: https://www.antique-swords.co.uk

Cancellation

To cancel an order: contact Waterfield forge with the same platform and profile or address you originally contacted with to place the order, unless otherwise unable to do so.

Failure to respond or notify Waterfield forge of complications within 30 days of the order being finished will be treated as a cancelation, i.e. “Ghosting”.

Warranty

All orders are warrantied against manufacture defects such as: cracks, enlarged grain, large warps & twists, edge blow outs i.e. large chipping, or otherwise breakage that is not the fault of the user. If occurring the broken or damaged product may be asked to be returned for review, upon which the product may be repaired, replaced or refunded. If the product is not returned upon request for review the warranty will not be honored.

Misuse of the products intended design such as: striking steel, cinderblock (excluding maces/hammers), rocks, hammering with the flat of the blade, prying, felling trees >2-3 inches diameter (excluding tool axes), throwing (excluding javelin, throwing axes), and deliberate/repetitive bending past 45 degrees focused on a single point; or otherwise equally abusive use can devoid the warranty. Damaged products due to abusive use detailed above can still be returned for repair or replacement at the customers expense up to the original quoted cost of the product.

Hema / SCA / Buhurt: feders will be warrantied for 2 years after purchase, and are exempt from the above clauses under misuse. It is Waterfield Forge’s understanding that sparring gear is meant for hard use that limits the items lifespan.
